In lieu of a regular blog post today, I am going to take the time to quickly introduce our readers to the possibility of guest writing for EAF!  Once every six weeks, EAF has a “Guest Post” scheduled for Wednesday 0800 hours (PT).  This post slot is made available for any of our readers who might want to try their hand at STEM blogging.  Today would normally have been our first Guest Post, but what with the website being only a few weeks old, we did not have a guest post available to publish this week.  It will likely take a little bit of time for us to find our first guest post, so in the meantime, these post slots will be fulfilled by myself (Brian) until we begin to receive guest post requests.  In order to see the available Guest Post slots, you can check the EAF Posts Calendar for openings, read the information disclaimer, and then submit a guest post request at the bottom of the EAF Posts Calendar page (to navigate to this page from any given page, go into the main menu, and locate the EAF Posts Calendar page within the About drop-down).  Of course, we will note that not all guest post requests will be accepted, as we have content rules, request deadlines, and require unanimous post approval by all (four) current EAF writers.  Do not let this discourage you, we really want to help people to take advantage of our guest writing feature and will work with said writers to help them creatively, scientifically, and technically.

If you have a cool idea for a STEM-related guest writing post, we want to hear from you!

These guest writing opportunities are intended to provide STEM students, graduates, professionals, etc. with an opportunity to try their hand at STEM-blogging.  Benefits of guest writing include:

  • Gain valuable experience in STEM-blogging
  • Improve your communication skills
  • Put your critical thinking skills to work
  • Explore your interests with regards to the STEM fields
  • A personalized letter from the EAF team commending your contribution to EAF and the community
  • Recognition for your contribution on the EAF Guest Writers page (located in the Meet the Team drop-down of the About drop-down in the main menu)
  • The chance to inspire interest in the STEM fields amongst the general public
  • Many more!

Don’t be afraid to give guest writing a shot and to put yourself out there, we promise it’s well worth it and not too long ago, in July 2014 (before TeamUV.org and EngineeringAFuture.com), none of us here at EAF had ever done anything quite like this (STEM blogging).  All of us had to overcome some amount of nervousness and anxiety; but I’ll tell you what, I believe the entire EAF team would agree with me when I say that writing here on EAF (and TeamUV.org previously) has been one of the most awesome, rewarding experiences of my life! We can’t wait to hear from you!

So, please, if you’d like to take a shot at guest writing for EAF, visit the EAF Posts Calendar page, check the calendar, read the quick info. disclaimer, and send us a request email with your idea!
